CARE Portland Angora Knit Sweater
Following these care instructions will help preserve the quality and appearance of your Portland angora knit sweater for years to come.
Material Composition: 70% Angora, 20% Fine Wool, 10% Nylon
Washing:
- Hand wash only. Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild detergent.
- Gently submerge the sweater in the water and agitate it with your hands to distribute the detergent.
- Allow the sweater to soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water until all soap residue is removed.
- Avoid wringing or twisting the sweater, as this can cause stretching and damage to the fibres.
Drying:
- After washing, gently press the excess water out of the sweater by pressing it between clean towels.
- Reshape the sweater to its original dimensions, smoothing out any wrinkles or creases.
- Lay the sweater flat on a clean, dry towel and allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Avoid hanging the sweater while wet, as this can cause it to stretch out of shape.
Storage:
- Store the sweater folded neatly in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Avoid hanging the sweater for long periods, as this can cause stretching and distortion of the fibres.
- To prevent moth damage, store the sweater with cedar balls or lavender sachets.
Ironing:
- If ironing is necessary, use a low to medium heat setting and place a clean cloth between the iron and the sweater to prevent direct contact.
- Using steam will help restore the shape if the sweater has been hanging up.
Pilling:
- Angora and wool blends may experience some natural pilling over time. Use a fabric shaver or sweater comb to gently remove any pills, taking care not to damage the fibres.
General Tips:
- Avoid exposing the sweater to harsh chemicals, bleach, or fabric softeners, as these can damage the fibres.
