Care: Denim Fabric- general care

The following care instructions will help maintain the quality, colour, and fit of your denim garments, ensuring they remain soft and comfortable for years to come.

Washing:

  • Turn your denim garment inside out before washing to preserve the colour and minimise friction
  • Machine wash separately in cold water with like colours
  • Use a mild detergent, preferably one designed for dark or coloured fabrics
  • Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners as they can damage the fabric and fade the colour
  • Choose a gentle cycle with a slow spin speed to reduce wear and tear
  • If you prefer to hand wash, gently agitate the garment in cold water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly
  • Do not soak your denim garment for extended periods

Drying:

  • After washing, reshape your denim garment to its original form
  • Hang your garment to air dry if possible. Hanging helps maintain the shape and prevents excessive stretching
  • Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. Dry them in a shaded area or indoors
  • If using a dryer, select a low heat setting to reduce the risk of shrinkage and maintain elasticity
  • Remove your denim garment from the dryer while slightly damp to prevent over-drying and wrinkling

Ironing:

  • If needed, iron your denim garment inside out using a low to medium heat setting
  • Avoid ironing over creases or folds, as it may create permanent marks

Stain Removal:

  • Attend to stains promptly. Blot, don't rub, the stain with a clean cloth to remove excess residue
  • For oily stains, sprinkle talcum powder or cornstarch on the stain, let it sit for a few hours, and then gently brush it off
  • Use a stain remover or a mixture of mild detergent and water for tougher stains, following the product's instructions
  • Always test the stain remover on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn't affect the colour

General Tips:

  • Avoid frequent washing to prolong the life of your denim garment. Instead, spot clean or air them out when possible
  • Store your denim garment in a cool, dry place to prevent mould and mildew growth
  • To reduce odour, consider freezing your denim garment overnight in a plastic bag, which can kill odour-causing bacteria
